I have served Christ Lutheran Church as pastor for nearly 3 years and I have never found a more genuine and generous group of people. The members of Christ Lutheran Church support dozens of helping organizations in our community with donations of time, talent and dollars. We have activities for nearly every age – children & teens, families and seniors as well as a college ministry connected to UCSB. Our worship is based on the traditional Christian liturgy featuring some outstanding musicians and vocalists. We sing time-honored hymns to spirituals to multicultural music. Occasionally, we’ll even break out the guitars and fiddles for a bluegrass service. There are multiple opportunities for personal and spiritual growth all wrapped up in Christian friendship. We aren’t afraid to dive deeply into the important social justice issues of our day. Our doors are open to anyone and everyone. Our dinners, potlucks, and barbecues are second to none!

Pastor Russ is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary receiving his Masters of Divinity in 1980. He is a graduate of California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks with a BA in Psychology. Pastor Russ also has received a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Santa Barbara in 2006. He is a registered marriage and family therapy intern specializing in pre-marital and marital counseling, alcohol and drug abuse/addiction issues, relationship problems, change of life transitions, and grief and loss.
